About the Item

Popov porcelain; Russian covered broth bowl stand. Broth bowl and stand, superbly decorated in the Rococo taste with delightful swags of flowers pendant and vivid pink rococo edged borders, the knop as a flower. The Popov factory was started by a German in 1806, then sold to Popov, a China trade merchant, who directed it until his death in the 1850s. He was keenly involved in the technical and artistic sides, and he organised experiments in coloured enamels
