About the Item
For your consideration, a stunning Art Nouveau centerpiece bowl by Royal Dux, circa 1900, Austria. The piece is only signed with serial numbers but the design and work is consistent with Alois Hampel for Royal Dux. The bowl form and rocky outcrop the figure sits upon are identical to Hampel's Royal Dux bowl "The Lovers". The centerpiece is a rare design depicting Aesop's fable, the Fisherman and his Flute. Bowl is in good condition with only one minor paint chip and no cracks.

Royal Dux
Royal Dux is a porcelain company based in the Czech Republic that manufactures figurines, vases and other ceramics and objects in neoclassical and Art Nouveau styles. Some of the company’s most popular pieces include the Bohemia centerpiece as well as their Elephant figurine.
A member of the Czech Porcelain Group, Roya Dux has produced its brand of figural and decorative porcelain works since 1853. Model expert Eduard Eichler established the company in Duchov, Bohemia, in 1860 and ran Royal Dux Bohemia until his death in 1887, recreating historical designs from England, Denmark and France. At the start of the 20th century, the company enjoyed remarkable success thanks to the works of the designer Alois Hampel.
Royal Dux porcelain pieces are designated by their trademark pink triangle, which serves as a certificate of authentication. The company enjoyed a renaissance in 1958 owing to the display of Jaroslav Ježek’s collection at the world exhibition in Brussels that year.
In 1992, the Duchov factory rebranded itself as Royal Dux.
