About the Item

Pair of flat cup and saucer sets was made in England of fine bone china by Royal Worcester and decorated in Holly Ribbons pattern. Holly Ribbons is an exquisite dinnerware pattern that represents the essence of the holiday season, with bright red holly berries on the garland of red ribbon entwined with deep green holly leaves and mistletoe, and gold trim on the rims and handles. The pattern is currently discontinued; it was in production from 1987 to 2012, with earlier pieces made in England, but the production was moved to Thailand and India later on. The set was made in England and marked accordingly, dating it to late 1980s; it is in very good, almost unused vintage condition. Striking set with traditional, elegant form, high quality craftsmanship, and charming seasonal decor will make a perfect gift to a collector or a design enthusiast, and will be a great addition to a wide range of tablescapes and interiors, from Traditional to Modern, Transitional, Modern Country, Organic Modern, Collected, or Contemporary.

Haviland Limoges Hand Painted Pair of Porcelain Cups Saucers, France 1894-1931
By Haviland Co.
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
Set of 2 demitasse cups and 2 saucers was made by Haviland Cie in Limoges, France. The Art Deco style form of a footed cups, with 3 small ball feet, is rather rare and hard to find, especially in coffee or demitasse size. In this set the pieces were hand painted by a professional artist in a decorating studio with Victorian style motif of pink English roses. Calm light pink and green colors are accentuated by bright gold rims and gold trim on handles and ball feet; crisp white color of semi-translucent porcelain showcases the soft, delicate decor without overpowering it. The pieces are marked with green underglaze manufacturer mark Haviland France that dates to 1894-1931. The set is in very good antique condition with minimal wear on gold that is appropriate to its age. The advent of Arts and Craft Movement created the notion that the aesthetic quality of everyday utilitarian objects could be improved by merit of craftsmanship, and many painters and artists felt inspired to merge their activities into decorative arts, such as ceramics, decor objects, or dinnerware. Large number of wholesale and retail firms, such as Pickard, Stouffer, or Brauer studios, and many high-end department stores that carried factory decorated Limoges's porcelain, had their own china decorating departments and produced high quality hand painted porcelain. Undecorated Haviland china...
