About Tapio Wirkkala and Corinth Blue: Tapio Wirkkala (1915–1985) was one of Finland’s most prominent designers, known for his versatile work in glass, porcelain, metal, and industrial design. He began a long-term collaboration with Rosenthal, where he created a number of iconic services under the Studio-linie. Among these, Corinth Blue, introduced in the 1960s, became one of the most beloved. The decoration, with its blue rhythmic patterns inspired by classical architecture and modernist aesthetics, makes the service a timeless example of Nordic modernism in international porcelain.
