About the Item
Antique porcelain cups or mugs with rounded handles feature a hand painted decor of grapes on the wine; dark purple and red grapes and green leaves stand out on the bright white background. The thin, semi-translucent bone china cups allow the painted branches decor to appear back lit when the light source is placed behind the cups, creating a striking display. The rounded handles are gilded, and the rims are accented with a thin gold band.
The cups are marked with green stamp "T
V Limoges France" on the underside; the mark was in use from 1891 to 1907.
Originally the cups were created as a part of a punch service, but in contemporary settings the convenient size of the cups allows them be used either for coffee or tea, or other beverages of choice. The elegant form, high quality craftsmanship, and charming hand painted decoration will make the cups a perfect addition to a wide range of tablescapes and interiors, from Traditional to Victorian, Transitional, Modern Country, Glam, Collected, Eclectic, or Contemporary.
Tressemanes
Vogt was a French porcelain factory, founded by Gustave Vogt and Émilien de Tressemanes. Their partnership began in 1882, when they acquired the Limoges-based decorating firm, founded in the 1850s by John Vogt. The factory produced high-quality whiteware and decorated porcelain for the American export market. Tressemanes retired in 1907, and Vogt became the sole owner, changing the company name to Porcelaine Gustave Vogt; in 1919 Martial Raynaud acquired the company.

Roman Erlikh
Roman Erlikh is a professional woodworker with over 20 years’ experience. Roman Erlikh Studio creates bespoke and limited edition contemporary furniture and art objects. His first furniture collections were inspired by traditional Art Deco and Biedermeier styles interpreted through a modern lifestyle demands. Stepping away from merely utilitarian view of everyday objects, his recent collections are filled with meaningful textual context while incorporating traditional and modern woodworking techniques. Roman is using practical function as a common denominator to create emotionally charged art objects, blurring the boundary between art and function. While appreciating possibilities of ordinary materials, Roman is developing new mixed media multilayered composite varnishes and utilizes decorative gilding and mica veneer to actively engage ambient light, giving an additional aspect to relation of his objects to their environment. The decision to work in custom format was based on environmental concerns and opposition to culture of mass production and pure consumerism. The choice of materials was heavily influenced by sustainability and environmental concerns. All objects are made locally in the Brooklyn Navy Yard workshop. Elimination of storage and transportation needs for mass-produced furniture in lieu of creating a custom made objects on demand allows us to reduce waste of materials and energy.

Haviland Limoges Hand Painted Pair of Porcelain Cups
Saucers, France 1894-1931
By Haviland
Co.
Located in Clifton Springs, NY
Set of 2 demitasse cups and 2 saucers was made by Haviland
Cie in Limoges, France. The Art Deco style form of a footed cups, with 3 small ball feet, is rather rare and hard to find, especially in coffee or demitasse size. In this set the pieces were hand painted by a professional artist in a decorating studio with Victorian style motif of pink English roses. Calm light pink and green colors are accentuated by bright gold rims and gold trim on handles and ball feet; crisp white color of semi-translucent porcelain showcases the soft, delicate decor without overpowering it.
The pieces are marked with green underglaze manufacturer mark Haviland France that dates to 1894-1931. The set is in very good antique condition with minimal wear on gold that is appropriate to its age.
The advent of Arts and Craft Movement created the notion that the aesthetic quality of everyday utilitarian objects could be improved by merit of craftsmanship, and many painters and artists felt inspired to merge their activities into decorative arts, such as ceramics, decor objects, or dinnerware. Large number of wholesale and retail firms, such as Pickard, Stouffer, or Brauer studios, and many high-end department stores that carried factory decorated Limoges's porcelain, had their own china decorating departments and produced high quality hand painted porcelain. Undecorated Haviland china...
