About the Item

"Vivid Verdure": Set of 11 Vintage Green Majolica "Lotus" Plates, by The Haldon Group Dated 1983 A vibrant and collectible set of eleven vintage majolica-style pottery plates, produced by The Haldon Group in 1983. Modeled with a striking, high-relief "Lotus" pattern, these plates are a superb example of the late 20th-century revival of Victorian naturalism. Each plate is entirely covered in a rich, emerald green glaze that pools beautifully in the recesses of the molding, creating depth and highlighting the intricate details. The design features a central lotus flower surrounded by large, overlapping ribbed leaves with textured veins and curling stems. The Haldon Group was renowned in the 1980s for their high-quality decorative ceramics that paid homage to antique English and French faience, often rivaling the originals in modeling sharpness. Markings: Printed Mark: The reverse bears the distinctive black logo of The Haldon Group (a stylized "H") and the copyright date ©1983. Condition: Excellent vintage condition- The green glaze remains glossy and bright. No chips or cracks observed. Measurements: Diameter: 8 1/2 inches (21.6 cm) Historical Context: Founded in the late 20th century, The Haldon Group became famous for their "majolica" style wares, particularly their teapots and service ware. Their "Lotus" and "Cabbage" lines are highly sought after today by "Grandmillennial" style collectors who mix them with antique Dodie Thayer or Wedgwood green glazed wares to create lush, garden-inspired tablescapes.
