This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver cafe´ au lait set consists of a coffee jug and hot milk jug, each crafted in the Gothic style.
The coffee jug and hot milk jug have a plain hexagonal baluster shaped form onto a paneled spreading foot.
The surface of each piece is embellished with a contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting a demi-lion holding an axe.
Each piece is fitted with the original hallmarked hinged cover surmounted with an impressive sterling silver paneled finial.
The cover of each jug incorporates an applied incurved bracket and elevated scrolling thumbpiece.
The milk jug and coffee jug retain the original handles overlaid with interwoven bamboo, strategically interlaced to produce a segmented braided design.
Each jug has a plain sparrow beak spout ornamented with applied moulded decoration to the rim.

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver cafe au lait set in the George II style; an addition to our collectable teaware collection.
This exceptional antique George V sterling silver cafe au lait set consists of a coffee pot and hot milk jug.
Each piece of this cafe au lait set has a plain baluster shaped form to three feet, all in the early George II style.
The surface of each piece is plain and unembellished, accented with an applied moulded border to the upper rim.
Each piece is fitted with the original hallmarked domed hinged cover surmounted by an impressive cast silver pineapple finial; each cover retains the original hallmarked, detachable hinge pin.
Both the milk jug and coffee pot retains the original opposing scroll carved wood handle, fitted to cast and applied scrolling sockets.
The coffee pot features an exceptional cast silver swan necked spout ornamented with an undulating socket, the sparrow beak spout to the milk jug is ornamented with a decorative leaf formation to the nadir.
Each piece is supported by three impressive cast sterling silver feet ornamented with a scrolling foot to a shell design in junction with the body.
Condition
This antique sterling silver cafe au lait set is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The interior of the each piece has been professionally cleaned and is ready for use. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece and part hallmarks to the sleeve of each cover, in addition to the hinge pins, are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the superior gauge of silver.
