About the Item

The Prattware pearlware plaque is relief-mouded with two recumbent lions and painted in under glaze colors with floral branches and a molded border. What is so nice about this particular plaque is that it has wonderful folky blue colors on the lion's bodies rather than the more typical naturalistic brown. Reference: Prattware, John and Griselda Lewis. Page 208 for a similar plaque located in The Nelson Atkins Museum in Kansas City.
