About the Item
Lofty group of seven 19th century Portuguese majolica palissy ware wall plaques or plates handcrafted in earthenware decorated in whimsical compositions with lizards, snakes, frogs, and insects on a lush grass background. Four are José Alves Cunha. All having minor chips, but in substantially good condition and as seen in the listing photos, one plate is repaired. Stamped Portugal in various styles on the bottoms.
