About the Item

Decorate a dining room wall or display shelf with this elegant antique barbotine platter. Crafted in France by Keller Guérin in Luneville circa 1880, the hand-painted faïence dish features the “Campanule” pattern, showcasing delicately sculpted and enameled floral sprays in yellow, red, blue, and green over a cream glazed background. The organic shape, adorned with molded lilac buds at the rim and subtle raised relief work, gives the piece a naturalistic, three-dimensional quality. Luneville Faïence is one of the most celebrated French pottery manufacturers, located in Lorraine since 1730. The first factory, founded by Jacques Chambrette in 1723, became the Manufacture Royale du Roi de Pologne (“Royal Factory of the King of Poland”) in 1749, when the exiled King Stanislas I, father-in-law of Louis XV, settled in the region. Marked K.G. Luneville Campanule on the underside, this exquisite platter is in excellent condition with minor surface wear commensurate with age and use. It adorns a bright, glossy finish, an ideal addition to any French country kitchen, dining room, or faïence collection. Measures: 14.5" W x 11.5" D x 1.5" H.
