About the Item

A whimsical and collectible silver-plated ladle designed and handcrafted in Taxco, Mexico by renowned designer Emilia Castillo. Made in solid brass and finished with a rich silver plate, the ladle features Castillo’s signature hammered texture and sculptural detailing. At the top of the handle rests a charming malachite-inlaid parrot perched on a branch, complemented by grounded-malachite leaves—an iconic expression of the natural world that defines her work. This piece is fully hallmarked “Emilia Castillo, Mexico, MR, Plateado, TO-85, #9”, the piece is also hand signed confirming its authenticity and origin. We have two pieces available, the second piece is not hand signed and is marked #2. Daughter of the celebrated Antonio Castillo of the legendary Los Castillo workshop, Emilia Castillo has continued the family’s legacy while establishing her own artistic language. Her work merges Mexican silversmithing traditions, organic motifs, and imaginative sculptural elements, making her creations highly sought after by interior designers, collectors of Mexican modern design, and enthusiasts of artisanal metalwork. Her pieces introduce a sophisticated yet playful presence to barware, tableware, and curated environments. This ladle is not only a functional serving utensil but a decorative art object, ideal for luxury kitchens, bar settings, and display within curated interiors. Measurements Length: 14 in. (35.56 cm) Width: 3.75 in. (9.53 cm) Depth: 3.75 in. (9.53 cm) A distinctive example of Taxco craft and Emilia Castillo’s celebrated artistic vision.
