About the Item

A charming and rare silver-plated figural honey pot, crafted in the shape of a stylized honey bee, England, early 20th century. This whimsical piece is composed of a finely chased silver-plated head and legs, paired with a rich emerald green blown glass body. The hinged wings lift to reveal a hollow interior designed for serving honey or sweet condiments. Stamped with three distinct marks: an "A" in a shield, a crown in a shield, and "TC" within a rectangular cartouche — all consistent with the hallmarking practices of English electroplaters, likely based in Sheffield. The number "79" denotes a model or production reference. These markings confirm English origin and align with similar collectible pieces from makers in the style of Mappin Webb. The bee’s sculptural presence, complete with delicately formed legs and antennae, makes it as much a conversation piece as it is a functional object. An exceptional example of turn-of-the-century novelty silverware, embodying both craftsmanship and humor. Dimensions: 16 cm L x 10 cm W x 9 cm H Weight: Approx. 432g Condition: Good vintage condition with mild tarnishing to the wings and surface signs of age. The hinge and lid function smoothly. Glass body is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
