About the Item
A very handsome near pair of Regency style silver-plated sauce tureens, both showing lobe decorated bodies fitted with conforming lids, sided by lion’s masks with ring handles and raised overall upon squared bases atop winged lions paw supports.
The undersides of both bases bearing British makers marks, one for the highly regarded silversmith firm of Barker Brothers, the other for the highly regarded silversmith firm of Charles Howard Collins, both of Birmingham England.
One tureen measures 7” high x 6.5” diameter (across the handles), the other measures 6.75” high x 6.25” diameter (across the handles).
Both remain in fine overall condition, and are priced competitively in comparison to other examples in the marketplace.

The substantial oval body having open handles, richly decorated with embossed
engraved foliate motifs
centered by blank foliate cartouches, the conforming lid bearing engraved heraldic crests.
Raised overall upon a stepped oval foot, with the underside bearing impressed factory marks for Elkington
Co., together with date letter for 1884.
In extremely good overall condition, and priced competitively in comparison to similar examples in the marketplace.
