This is an exquisite and rare antique pair of English silver plated on copper entree dishes stamped Walker & Hall Sheffield Plate Old Style, and dated Circa 1860. The dishes are of rectangular shaped form with gaddrooned and acanthus leaf borders with detachable handles. In excellent condition, these wonderful entree dishes are ready to grace your dining table. A truly exquisite pair that would make a fine addition to any antique collection. Branches were opened in Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Cardiff, Belfast, Hull, Bristol, Melbourne and Adelaide (Australia), Cape Town (South Africa). The fundamental pieces of the basic service were crafted by the Sheffield silversmith Emile Viner of Viner's Ltd between 1934-1939; these pieces will have been crafted in fewer years but due to the hallmarking system the components bear the date letters 'r', 's', 't', 'u', 'v' and 'w'. This service will have been retailed as a complete set and between the dates stated. The stainless steel blades of the original composite handled table and dessert knives bear the mark 'By Appointment to the Late King George V, Viners Ltd, Sheffield' accented with 'Stainless Deluxe'. This impressive canteen of cutlery is fitted to the original, fine and impressive oak three draw canteen table; this is an impressive piece of furniture in its own right. The table is fitted with a pair of Art Deco style gilt metal handles to each drawer, in addition to plain escutcheons. This exceptional cutlery table is supported by four plain legs with tapering knopped feet. Condition The Sandringham pattern cutlery service within this antique cutlery canteen table is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The service has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The table box has been professionally polished by a cabinet maker. The velvet interior of each draw has some wear in keeping with age, but can be considered to be in presentation condition. Full hallmarks struck to the reverse surface of each piece are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
