About the Item

Antique porcelain serving dish or tureen with lid features elongated oval form with rounded handles and Victorian style decor with motofs of English roses and wildflowers connected by the Chippendale style trellises, forming an elegant bad along the rims. The footed form visually elevates the dish, and the gold band provides a delicate accent; the handles are decorated in gold, adding a textured element to the piece. The tray is marked with green onderglaze "T V Limoges France" factory mark and red overglaze bell decorators mark on the underside. The T&V mark was in use from 1891 to 1907, as the bell mark. The elegant form, high quality craftsmanship, and charming hand painted decoration will make the tray a perfect addition to a wide range of interiors, from Traditional to Victorian, Transitional, Modern Country, Glam, Collected, or Contemporary. Tressemanes Vogt was a porcelain factory, founded by Gustave Vogt and Émilien de Tressemanes. Their partnership began in 1882, when they acquired the Limoges-based decorating firm, founded in the 1850s by John Vogt. The factory produced high-quality whiteware and decorated porcelain for the American export market. Tressemanes retired in 1907, and Vogt became the sole owner, changing the company name to Porcelaine Gustave Vogt; in 1919 Martial Raynaud acquired the company.
