About the Item

20th century Paris, France. A set of 12 "Rencontre" silver-plated domed plate covers with acorn handles by Ercuis. The Rencontre collection distinguishes itself by the flawlessness of its lines and its elegant and sober border which decorates each piece. Rencontre is classic, simple, and sophisticated allowing for each piece to pair with more elaborate works. Entertain the way you deserve to, with class and elegance. Ercuis was founded in 1867 by Adrien Celeste Pillon, a priest from Ercuis in the French department of Oise, north of Paris. In 1880 Ercuis opened their first shop in Paris. Simultaneously they moved away from religious works and towards decorative and artistic flatware and hollowware, which they became renowned for. With evolving styles and trends Ercuis made a transition to more modern styles in 1969, introducing sleek designs to their expert level craftsmanship. Ercuis became an exclusive luxury French brand in 1978. Their products can be seen in multiple luxury hotels in Paris and in parts of northern and southern France including the Royal Monceau Raffles, the Shangri-La Hotel, and the Four Seasons George V. The growing luxury hotel industry on the international and local scale has secured Ercuis as a leading name in the world of luxury. Dimensions: 7"h x 9"dia Condition: Good. Minor surface scratches typical of gentle use. Provenance: Furnishings from an Important Peter Marino Commission, Palm Beach, FL.
