About the Item
That's an antique dinner bell with abalone , mother -of-pearl bell on a white marble base. I found this object in France during a vacation, and the writing in French confirm it: "Souvenir de Villers" = remember of Villers. I don't know if it originates in England or in France.
The bell mechanism is composed of a simple arm which, when depressed, beats against the inner small brass bell.
The round base is a white marble.
It wa used to call the servants.
