The base is composed of silver plate and features three figural children holding a rope and playing a period circle game. This elegant American tea service in Britannia Metal consists of three pieces: a teapot, a sugar bowl, and a coffee pot/chocolate pot. The teapot and sugar bowl feature a round design with handles, while the coffee pot/chocolate pot has an oblong shape. All three pieces are fitted with lids topped with knobs. What stands out is the fine hand-engraved decoration, showcasing typically Victorian leaf motifs enriched with elegant and intricate scrollwork. The engraving extends from the lid to the middle of each piece, where it transitions into a decorative cartouche containing an engraved "K," presumably the initial of the original owner. On the bottom of each piece, a hallmark identifies the manufacturer and year of production. The service was crafted by Wilcox Silver Plate Co. of Meriden, Connecticut, in 1867, as verified by the hallmark. The number "1952" indicates the model of the service, information sourced from Dorothy T. Rainwater’s “Encyclopedia of American Silver Manufacturers” (page 226).
