About the Item
This distinguished nine-piece tea and coffee service, crafted by the International Silver Company, epitomizes the height of American silver artistry from the early 20th century. Designed in the iconic Orchid pattern, this set reflects the luxurious design aesthetics of the Art Deco period, harmoniously blending organic floral motifs with fluid, architectural lines.
The Orchid pattern is renowned for its delicate yet striking botanical embellishments, inspired by the elegant curves and intricate forms of orchid blossoms. Each piece is masterfully executed with exquisite repoussé and chased detailing, demonstrating the remarkable craftsmanship of International Silver’s silversmiths. This ensemble transcends its functional purpose, embodying a cohesive work of art that reflects the opulence and sophistication of its era.
The set comprises the following pieces:
- Hot Water Kettle on Stand with an elegantly arched handle, ornate floral accents, and the original burner. It rests gracefully on a pedestal stand, crowned by a domed lid adorned with a floral finial that complements the orchid motif. 14.25" h, 10.25" w, 5.75" d.
- Coffee Pot featuring a slender, gracefully curved spout, an elongated neck, and a sculptural handle. The body is richly decorated with cascading orchid blossoms that flow seamlessly around its elegant silhouette. 9" h, 11" d, 4.375" w.
- Teapot with a rounded, bulbous form, surmounted by a domed lid topped with a floral finial. The handle and spout are intricately adorned with botanical accents, enhancing its harmonious proportions. 7.25" h, 11.5" d, 4.75" w.
- Covered Sugar Bowl with double handles reflecting the flowing curves and ornate floral patterns of the Orchid design, capped with a domed lid crowned by an orchid blossom finial. 6" h, 8.25" w, 3.625" d.
- Creamer featuring a gracefully flared spout and elegantly contoured handle, enriched with delicate floral ornamentation that complements its flowing silhouette. 5.75" h, 5.75" d, 2.75" w.
- Waste Bowl with gently rounded edges and a smooth, polished interior, providing a refined contrast to the richly decorated exterior. 4.25" h, 5" w, 3.625" d.
- Serving Tray with an elongated oval form, bordered by a pierced gallery and adorned with flowing floral garlands. Its pierced handles enhance its architectural elegance, creating a grand setting for the complete tea and coffee service. 24.25" w, 16.625" d.
- Lemon Tray, gracefully designed with subtle floral details that harmonize with the overall Orchid pattern. Its elegant contours and delicate ornamentation make it a refined accompaniment to the tea and coffee set. 4.125" w, 6.25" d.
- Sugar Tongs, intricately engraved with floral motifs that echo the orchid theme, adding a touch of sophistication to the set’s functionality. 4.125".
Each piece is meticulously crafted in heavy gauge sterling silver, a testament to the superior quality and durability of International Silver Company’s workmanship. The Orchid pattern’s exquisite balance of sculptural form and decorative detail embodies the luxury and sophistication of the Art Deco period.
With a total weight of approximately 238 troy ounces, this sterling silver tea and coffee service stands as a magnificent example of American silversmithing at its finest.
