About the Item

sculptural letter knife in the form of a bird, crafted in sterling silver and glass, designed by Danish silversmith Allan Scharff (b. 1945) and produced by Georg Jensen in the 1970's. This playful yet elegant design exemplifies Scharff’s minimalist aesthetic and poetic approach to form. The knife’s bird-inspired silhouette combines function with artistry, while the contrast between the cool silver body and translucent glass adds a tactile and visual sophistication. It is a perfect example of how Scharff transforms everyday objects into sculptural works of art. Allan Scharff, a leading figure in contemporary Danish silversmithing, joined Georg Jensen in the 1960s and has works represented in major museum collections including the Designmuseum Danmark and the Victoria Albert Museum.
