About the Item

Empire silver lidded jug with a stepped, funnel-shaped foot on a square plinth, a large fluted ring decorated with acanthus leaves, in which the smooth, raised bulbous vessel rests, in the upper part of the wall a broad wavy frieze with feather and ivy decoration on a matt chased background, decorative relief ribbon also on the upper vertical constriction, slip lid with fully plastic cock, standing upright on one leg and shouldering an arrow pointing upwards with the other, spout in the form of a plastically shaped boy as a spout-holder embracing an amphora on an acanthus leaf console, ebonised wooden volute handle mounted at a distance, chiselled cockerel motif on one side of the wall.
