A fine antique George V English sterling silver cake / fruit basket; part of our silverware collection.
This fine antique George V sterling silver cake / fruit basket has a plain circular rounded form onto a circular domed pedestal foot.
The plain body of the basket is embellished with a thread decorated girdle.
The rim of this antique sterling silver basket is ornamented with an applied band of egg and dart decoration.
This George V basket retains the original hallmarked tapering swing handle, ornamented with further applied egg and tongue decoration, replicating that of the body.
The well of this basket is plain and unembellished.
Condition
This antique basket is a very good gauge of silver, very good quality and in excellent condition.
The basket has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the basket and part hallmarks struck to the handle are all very clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine sterling silver basket.
