About the Item

A fine, signed French Art Deco knife rest. In French second standard silver. By Louis Mathey, the renowned French Art Deco silversmith. In the form of a flat cut dog body with soldered legs and clogs (or klompen shoes). The dog has a raised tail, raised ears, and appears to hold a ball in its mouth. Simply a wonderful piece of figural French Deco silver! Date: Early 20th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: There are noticeable scratches throughout. Otherwise, there are some light edge wear, some light dings and indentations here and there, some fine and light surface scratches, and other signs of light wear consistent with age.
