About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique George IV English sterling silver mustard pot; an addition to our 19th century silverware collection. This exceptional antique George IV sterling silver mustard pot has a circular cylindrical rounded form. The surface of this silver mustard pot is plain and unembellished, encircled with a gadroon decorated border to the flared upper rim. This fine silver mustard pot retains the original hallmarked domed hinged cover surmounted with a cast silver ball style finial. The posterior of the cover is further ornamented with a cast leaf decorated thumbpiece, to the upper portion of the hinge. This exceptional mustard pot is fitted with a cast C shaped handle, embellished with a leaf decorated thumbpiece. This exceptional mustard pot retains the original removable blue glass liner. This impressive example of antique silverware is supplied with an associated hallmarked London sterling silver spoon, crafted by Jonathan Hayne in 1827. This exceptional antique silver mustard pot is the finest example of its type you could hope to acquire. The initials displayed within the maker's marks, in addition to the standardisation of the surround could pertain to a multitude of antique silversmiths; these silversmiths include William Eaton, Ellerby, Esterbrook and Eley II. Condition This antique 1800s silver mustard pot and spoon are an excellent gauge of silver, excellent quality and in excellent condition. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the body and part hallmarks to the interior of the cover are all very clear. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this exceptional silver mustard pot.
