About the Item

A fine and impressive pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver waiters, an addition to our silver tray, salver and platter collection. These fine antique George II sterling silver waiters have a Classic plain square form with shaped corners. The surface of each waiter is embellished with a fine and impressive contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a demi-savage adorned with four ostrich feathers; the crests have worn in keeping with age to an aesthetically pleasing naturally mellowed appearance. The raised borders are ornamented with an applied moulded rim. The waiters are each supported by four impressive hoof style feet. Such fine pairs of antique sterling silver waiters are becoming increasingly scarce. The armourial bearings are those of the Warburton family, of Arley in the County of Cheshire. Further detailed information available on request. Condition These antique waiters are a very good gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition. The bright cut engraved crests have worn to an aesthetically pleasing naturally mellowed appearance, in keeping with age. Full hallmarks struck to the underside of each waiter are all very clear in keeping with age. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these pieces of antique Georgian silverware.
