An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George II Newcastle sterling silver salver; an addition to our Georgian dining collection. This exceptional, fine and impressive antique George II English sterling silver salver has a circular shaped form onto four cast stepped hoof style feet. The surface of this antique silver salver is embellished with an exceptional and large coat of arms, incorporating the motto 'Dulce Propatria Mori'*. The cast and applied swept Chippendale style shaped border is ornamented with applied moulded decoration to the rim, incorporating shell and mask designs to the incurves. This exceptional salver was crafted by one of the most highly regarded Newcastle silversmiths, Isaac Cookson; this silversmith is known for creating exceptional and high quality pieces. Such early Newcastle examples in this exceptional condition and quality are rare to the market; this salver is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire. An antique Newcastle sterling silver salver is a distinguished gift, prized for its regional craftsmanship and ideal for weddings, anniversaries, retirements, milestone birthdays or as a refined corporate or collector's piece. * These heraldic markings pertain to Blencowe impaling Benn. Condition This antique sterling silver salver tray is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
