A magnificent antique Japanese silver koro (incense burner), exquisitely crafted using traditional pressed, cast, and chased techniques. This finely detailed piece stands gracefully on three slender, curved legs, and is richly decorated with phoenix motifs in high relief, symbolizing rebirth, grace, and immortality in Japanese art.
The side-mounted handles are sculpted in the form of mythical creatures, masterfully detailed with curling tendrils and cloud-like scrolls. The removable lid features intricate pierced latticework and is surmounted by a Shishi lion (Foo dog) holding a brocade ball, a traditional symbol of protection and power.
Executed with extraordinary precision, the koro showcases all-over C-scrolls, rocaille motifs, floral tendrils, and decorative cartouches in relief.
