About the Item
This antique sterling silver basket features a finely pierced gallery with repeating foliate and geometric motifs, surrounding an oval basin. The openwork sides are complemented by an arched swing handle-pierced to echo the decorative language of the body. The form is both refined and practical, well suited for use as a bonbon basket, bread basket, or as a decorative accent on a dining table or sideboard.
The basket is stamped STERLING to the underside and bears the number 4476, with additional engraved markings to the handle. The silver surface presents a warm patina consistent with age, with light surface wear commensurate with careful use over time.
