About the Item

A fine mid-19th century Russian tea strainer. In 84 Zolotnik silver. By Carl Gustav Ekqvist of St. Petersburg. The figural bowl in the form of a pear supported by an intertwined 'twig' handle. With remnants of a gold wash throughout. Marked to the reverse. Simply a wonderful, rare piece of Russian silver! Date: Mid-19th Century Overall Condition: It is in overall good, as-pictured, used estate condition. Condition Details: The spoon retains some remnants of its original gilding. Otherwise, there is some light edge wear, some light dings and indentations here and there, some fine and light surface scratches, and other signs of light wear consistent with age. Maker: Carl Gustav Ekqvist Marks: Marked CGE for Carl Gustav Ekqvist Silver / St. Petersburg assay mark over an 1850s date / 84 Fineness: Marked 84 for 84 zolotnik (.875) silver fineness.
