About the Item
The title of the work and its imagery, Golo Morgh (Bird and flower), references gol o bolbol. The gol (rose) and the bolbol (a nightingale) motif – a sub-theme of the bird and flower motif – was prevalent across visual culture during the Safavid (1501 to 1736) and Qajar (1789 to 1925).
Qajar portraiture is a style of Persian painting that emerged in the late 19th century. It is characterized by an Iranian understanding of portraiture that prioritizes capturing the sitter's likeness over creating a realistic depiction. Qajar portraits are known for their simple, restrained color palette and volumetric modeling of figures.
Persian antique sterling silver vase or decorative cup hand carved, pressed, cast and chased. Circular, curved belt height approx. 25 cm, diameter 10 cm, weight approx. 450 g. All-encompassing C-curves in relief, latticework, rocailles, tendrils of flowers and matching cartouches.
Highly collectable and valuable.
Measures: H x W x D: 25 x 10 x 12 cm.
