Antique Sterling Silver Decanter / Wine Bottle Labels

A fine antique Georgian English sterling silver ‘madeira’ decanter label / bottle ticket made in Newcastle; an addition to our wine and drinks silverware collection. This fine antique George III sterling silver decanter label/bottle ticket has a subtly convex, plain rectangular rounded cornered form. The body is embellished with a simple tooled decorated border and the engraved name ‘MADEIRA' to the center. The label is suspended by two ring loops to the upper border connected by a silver belcher style chain. This Fine example of Georgian silverware has been crafted by the Newcastle maker John Robertson II but assayed in London; this was an occasional practice with smaller items of Newcastle silver, where no town mark was been struck. An exceptional, fine and impressive, pair of antique Georgian English sterling silver bottle labels / tickets made by Hester Bateman; part of our wine related silverware collection. These exceptional and collectable George III sterling silver wine labels have a curvilinear ovoid-shaped form. These antique silver labels / tickets are ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pin struck scrolling designs accented with gadroon decorated scrolling leaf motifs paralleling the borders. The body of each label is engraved with the individual wine or spirit: 'Port' and 'Hock'. The upper portion of each label features a circular cartouche ornamented with the contemporary bright cut engraved crest of a demi-lion, holding between the paws a roundel. An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George IV English cast sterling silver vinaigrette; an addition to our diverse collectable silverware collection. This exceptional antique George IV cast sterling silver vinaigrette is realistically modelled in the form of a cornucopia. The cast silver horn-shaped cornucopia container is encompassed with bands of ribbed decoration, accented with a spiralling terminal. The rim of the horn is further embellished with a cast leaf decorated border. The upper portion of the horn is fitted with a hallmarked hinged cover embellished with an embossed and chased floral bouquet design. The cover opens to reveal the original hinged grille and gilt interior. The gilded grille is ornamented with a bright cut engraved and pierced decorated scrolling leaf design.
