About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver presentation trophy with golfing interest; an addition to our diverse presentation silverware collection. This exceptional antique George V sterling silver cup has a tapering circular shaped vessel onto a circular spreading pedestal foot. The plain surface of the cup is encircled with a plain applied girdle accented with four supports realistically modelled in the form of golf clubs. This golfing ornamentation encircles a large swept knop to the pedestal. This sterling silver golf trophy cup is fitted with an domed hallmarked push fit cover, encircled with an applied band of bead and spindle decoration. The cover is surmounted with an embossed finial realistically modelled in the form of a golfer in a full swing. The domed circular foot is embellished with a further applied band of bead and spindle decoration. This fine example of antique silverware is fitted to the original composite plinth, encircled with a vacant silver inscription band; the band may be engraved with a personal inscription if so desired. This impressive trophy is fitted with an internal screw fitment which provides a concealed attachment to the plinth. Condition This antique presentation piece is an exceptional gauge of silver for its type, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. The sterling silver golf trophy cup has been professionally polished and is in presentation condition. The embossed and applied decoration is very sharp. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the trophy vessel and part hallmarks to the rim of the cover are all very clear.
