A large
fine antique sterling silver sugar, shaker or muffineer, by Elkington
Co, London, 1912.
This very elegant antique cylindrical silver sugar sifter is by one of England's most respected makers of silver; Elkington
Co. The sifter is in two parts, the top with a turned finial and appliqued gothic inspired fleur des lis decoration below and the top is pierced with various cruciform
reticulated openings to allow the sugar to be sifted.
The top connects to the base with two silver hinged clips, the base is engraved with an armorial and the sifter stands on a circular gadrooned foot. The Top and base are stamped with the "E
Co" for Elkington and the panther's head for London with the date letter "R" for 1912. Condition is excellent.
