About the Item

Antique Tiffany Co. museum quality repousse sterling silver heart shaped chamberstick. 19th Century Rare heart shaped motif, ornately decorated in repousse, a technique produced by first hammering the silver out from the interior and then masterfully working the exterior to define and finish the design. The decoration features a profusion of fern fronds and flowers- roses, clematis, daisies and morning glories. A very similar Tiffany Co. sterling silver pitcher was part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition: Collecting Inspiration: Edward C. Moore at Tiffany Co.. The catalogue reference states that it is most likely the Wild Garden pattern. The present piece has a long attractive, shaped handle with repousse decoration at the center and end. Fully hallmarked on the base with pattern number and Director’s letter T for Charles L. Tiffany (1892-1902.) Condition: Very Good Marks: Tiffany Co.
