About the Item

We are delighted to offer this fine Victorian solid silver cigarette case made in London 1894 with marks for Wright Davies and Peake Co (likely later retailed). Whilst modest and unassuming upon first glance, this cigarette case is a wonderful and meticulously crafted example with its quality and attention to detail being superior to most counterparts of its period. The overall case is made from a good gauge of silver with a reassuring and solid feel in hand. Furthermore, its overall curvature is a wonderful touch, allowing for the case to sit flush against the thigh or rib cage depending on whether it is stored in your trouser/blazer pocket. The front side is finely hand-engraved with two crests, adding just the right touch of embellishment and contrast to its minimalist design, presenting an unmistakable and classically stylish Victorian antique appearance. The lid is spring-loaded and opens with the press of the side button and can be opened with one hand - the mechanism remains smooth, strong and crisp upon closure, a further testament to its overall quality. The interior is fully silver gilt (gold on top of solid silver) which not only creates a lovely contrast to its exterior silver colour but adds a layer of protection to prevent the content held within from tarnishing the silver. Oweing to its stylish and practical proportions, this case could be used to hold short cigarillos/short cigarettes or other small articles of your preference. A distinguished and timeless design, ideal for the discerning individual and bound to be a conversation starter upon usage. A full set of matching hallmarks are present on both sides of the interior. *All images with other items are for display purposes; this listing is for the title item only.
