About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, antique Victorian English sterling silver and wood galleried tray; an addition to our Victorian teaware collection. This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gallery tray has an oval form. The deep silver galleried border of the tray is embellished with pierced conjoined oval motifs, incorporating an oval inset handle to either tapering end. This antique tray is further embellished with an applied thread decorated border to the rim. The tray is fitted with a fine and impressive oak wood base, embellished with the original hallmarked silver oval vacant cartouche to the centre; the cartouche secures to the underside with a screw fitment. This impressive example of Victorian silverware is supported by four hallmarked sterling silver bun style feet. Condition This antique wood and silver tray is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition. There are some surface blemishes and minor discolouration to the original wood base. Full hallmarks struck to the anterior surface of the gallery and part hallmarks to the cartouche are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this impressive antique wood and silver tray with handles. A fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver galleried tea tray; an addition to our antique silver teaware collection. This fine antique George V sterling silver tea tray has a rounded navette shaped form. The surface of the tray is plain and unembellished.
