About the Item
Early silver saucepan, round, flared vessel with smooth walls and outwardly stepped rim, standing on three lion legs with fur relief and sculpted paws, mounted on the body of the vessel, with a turned wooden handle mounted at a distance on the side, stepped domed lid with grooved rim and small pumpkin knob.
Exceptional work of simple elegance by silversmith Johann Kuttenauer, who worked in Vienna from 1789 to 1822.
Branded by the Wheel mark, Austrian official hallmark for Vienna from 1791-1806: 13 Lot silver, dated 1794
Master's mark 'I.K:' in rectangle, manufacure mark for Johann Kuttenauer, who was active in Vienna 1789-1822.

impressively large silver plated soup tureen by Elkington
Company of London with a capacity to hold 4 quarts.
The substantial oval body having open handles, richly decorated with embossed
engraved foliate motifs
centered by blank foliate cartouches, the conforming lid bearing engraved heraldic crests.
Raised overall upon a stepped oval foot, with the underside bearing impressed factory marks for Elkington
Co., together with date letter for 1884.
In extremely good overall condition, and priced competitively in comparison to similar examples in the marketplace.
