About the Item

Consisting of a hot water container with a lockable spout, a trivet and a burner. Cylindrical vessel with two drop-ring handles, removable lid with vase-shaped flower bouquet knob, spout lever with acanthus decoration and shell-shaped handle; fixed to the trivet with two pins, four tall, curved legs with volute feet. Hot water vessel, trivet and burner with wick holder (wick included) made of silver, bone handles, metal strainer insert. Finest work of simple elegance by the Viennese silver manufacturer Mayerhofer Klinkosch. Branded by the Wheel mark, Austrian official hallmark: 13 Lot silver, dating 1840 Manufactory stamp: 'M K' - for Mayerhofer Klinkosch Founded in 1830 by Stephan Mayerhofer and Carl Klinkosch: 'K. k. Court and state priv. Gold, silver u. Plating manufacturers'. The Mayerhofer Klinkosch silver workshop had developed into one of the most successful companies in the industry by 1850. In 1869 Josef Carl Klinkosch became the sole owner and the successor company 'Gold-, Silber- und Metallwaren-Fabrik J. C. Klinkosch' was established.
