About the Item

Beautiful, Mid-Century Modern, Christmas edition, gold-plated sterling silver spoon by Danish manufacturer A. Michelsen in 1949. Made in Denmark in 1949, the spoon is dated and marked with '1949' and 'Jul' (which means Noel or Christmas in Danish) and represents the company's yearly or annual Christmas edition spoons. This one has a delightful depiction of an Advent wreath with red ribbon and four candles, in which he four candles symbolize hope, peace, joy and love. The spoon is also stamped 'A.Michelsen Copenhagen' and 'Sterling Denmark'. This Danish Manufacturer has been in business since 1841 and in 1985, A. Michelsen was merged with the Royal Porcelain Factory, Holmegaard Glass and Georg Jensen under the name Royal Copenhagen. Rare spoon to find and a wonderful thing to have in the hand and use - just beautiful Danish design.
