A refined boxed set of six sterling silver oyster forks with matching serving fork, crafted by James Deakin
Sons, one of Sheffield’s esteemed silversmiths, and fully hallmarked for Sheffield, 1941.
Each fork is elegantly styled in a streamlined Art Deco pattern, featuring fan-shaped fluted handles with stepped edges—an emblematic design of early 1940s British silverwork. The set is housed in its original blue velvet and ivory satin–lined presentation case, with a brass clasp and gilt-edged trim.
A handwritten note accompanying the set indicates it was “bought in London for his wife Deborah W. Estle, 1944 – E. F. Estle.” This personal provenance adds historical depth, connecting the piece to wartime London and the enduring appeal of fine English silver.
