Canaux Masterpiece French sterling silver gold 18-karat pie or pastry or fish server cherub. An exceptional piece from the point of view of its design but also for the multi-colored which is itself quite rare as well as the contrast between the raised details and the background. The upper part is engraved with iris and foliage pattern. The stem and handle has ribbon with foliage decoration, the pierced spatula is adorned with cherub. Piece with figurative handle is unusual. This taste for fantasy is typical of many of the pieces produced by the Maison Canaux at the end of the century. Both design and quality of workmanship are uncommon and its manufacture would have necessitated many more hours work than usual.
