Midcentury Modern sterling silver compote. Made by William G. DeMatteo in Bergenfield, New Jersey. Round and wide bowl on twisted shaft mounted to domed and beaded foot. Mounted to bowl underside is floral band comprising seed-spilling buds. Visible hand hammering. Marked “Sterling” with maker’s stamp. Weight: 12.5 troy ounces.
