Dutch Silver Asparagus Tongs, by Antonius Hendrikus der Kinderen, 1853 A Dutch silver asparagus tongs with beautiful shapes, both angular and round. The handle is angular and engraved and the edges have a beautiful pattern. The tongs in a graceful flower shape with leaves. A tongs made in the Biedermeier period by Antonius Hendrikus der Kinderen (Hall mark used between 1845-1868). The asparagus tongs is Dutch silver hallmarked. The "Lion2" for 833/000 purity of silver . The Minerva head (Assayer's mark) The letter is faded, but should be "K". The silver hall mark Year letter "T" for the Year 1853. The hall mark "Master sign" for A.H. der Kinderen. The measurement is 26 cm long, 8.5 cm wide and the depth is 3.5 cm. The weight is 82 grams

An exceptional, fine and impressive pair of antique Edwardian English sterling silver asparagus tongs; an addition to our silver flatware collection. These exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver asparagus server tongs have a rectangular rounded shaped form. The surface of the blades are embellished with a impressive bright cut engraved simplified scrolling leaf decoration with a suspended leaf festoon accented with a central floral motif. The plain tapering handle is embellished with an applied reed bordered stylised bud motif, reflecting a classic King's shape design. The interior of the blades, stems and bridge are plain and unembellished.
