About the Item

A very handsome and heavy sterling silver cream jug of oval bellied form, decorated with an engraved band of repeating 'bright cut' guilloche motifs and a loop shaped handle with bright-cut detail, the interior exhibiting an exceptionally fine and rich gilded surface. Weight: 211 grams (6.78 troy ounces). Void of hallmarks due to an early repair to the rim, the underside of the base showing stippled makers marks GA CG and dated 1811, which is consistent with both the form and decoration during that date period.
