About the Item

A fine sterling silver breadbasket by Frank M. Whiting Co., measuring approximately 11 inches long by 8 inches wide. The oval basket is beautifully decorated with a bold scalloped and fluted rim, enriched with raised scrolls and foliate motifs in the Rococo Revival style. The interior is smooth and polished, providing a striking contrast to the ornate rim, while the fluting adds texture and dimension. The basket rests flat, designed for elegant service at the table, ideal for bread, rolls, or fruit. Frank M. Whiting (North Attleboro, Massachusetts, active 1878–1895, later merged into Ellmore Silver Co.) was renowned for fine sterling silver tablewares of refined design and craftsmanship. This example showcases their skill in combining utility with decorative artistry.
