About the Item

A stunning original art nouveau cased set of six silver goblets retailed by Garrard Co and made by London silversmiths Frederick Hancock and dated 1913. The set of six heavy gauge silver goblets are presented in their original green leather covered case with fitted velvet and silk interior with the inside cover printed with the royal Garrard Co retailer marks. The goblets stand on a wide round splayed foot with tall narrow stems supporting a deep wide round bowl-shaped top with gilding to the bowl. Each is marked HANCOCKS CO 39 BRUTON ST to the base and each has impressed silver assay marks impressed to the bowl of the goblet along with makers marks for Frederick Hancock and date codes for London 1913. A very fine period quality set with a wonderful simple and elegant design which would grace any table setting or look great displayed. Approximate weight per goblet is 162gr. Provenance: Acquired from the UK Art Market. In excellent condition with some rubbing to a couple of the silver assay marks .
