A very good large silver swing handle basket of pierced oval form. The arched swing handle with two cast female busts arising from a leaf capped double C-scroll support. The cast and applied rim of shaped foliate and floral entwined decoration. The central bowl of the basket engraved with a rocaille cartouche containing an armorial. The top of the handle is decorated with a leaf form cartouche within which is the crest of a deer. The sides of the raised basket with hand cut pierced decoration. The whole standing on four cast and applied legs, decorated with a beautiful scrolling foliate design rising to high relief female faces, on leaf-form pad feet. Hallmarked to the underside for London 1747 by Edward Aldridge. The underside of the handle bears the lion passant and maker’s mark, both struck twice. The surface of the tea caddy is encompassed with bright cut engraved fabric swag designs and floral festoons, suspended from impressive spiralling foliate anchor-points accented with pensile bud designs. Each spiralling motif flanks a shield shaped cartouche displaying the contemporary engraved initials 'WM' and surmounted with a ribbon style bow. The upper and lower rims are encompassed with applied reed decorated borders. This fine Georgian silver cream jug is fitted with a plain scrolling handle ornamented with applied moulded decoration. A magnificent, fine and impressive antique Georgian English sterling silver wine cooler made by Henry Chawner; an addition to our antique wine and drink related silverware collection This magnificent antique George III sterling silver wine cooler has a circular rounded form onto a shaped circular spreading foot. The surface of the cooler is embellished with exceptional chased floral and scrolling foliate decoration, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates a large scroll bordered cartouche to either side, each ornamented with a contemporary engraved coat of arms depicting firstly a chevron charged with three lions passant guardant, secondly in chief three cross-crosslet and to the base a lion passant. This antique wine cooler is fitted with an exceptional pair of cast silver handles realistically modelled in the form of an eagle with raised wings, perched on a large scrolling leaf design. This impressive cooler is supported by a cast circular shaped spreading foot embellished with further floral and foliate decoration, accented with a large scrolling border to the rim. This exceptional Georgian wine cooler retains the original, hallmarked detachable liner and push fit cover. The cast sterling silver torus-shaped cover is ornamented with large floral and foliate designs, with an opposing scrolling border paralleling the shaped rim.
