Made in Italy. Ca. 1970's
Signed by Gianmaria Buccellati and made by Clementi Fabbrica Argenteria srl - Casalecchio di Reno (Bologna - Italy).
Buccellati of Italy is the most renowned silver maker globally, offering the highest quality of silver workmanship. It is known for its exquisite creativity, aesthetics, and craftsmanship.
The early history of the family business of Buccellati begins with Contargo Buccellati, father of Mario Buccellati, working as a goldsmith in Milan. At the age of 12, Mario Buccellati apprenticed with a highly reputed jewelry shop in Milan, Beltrami
Beltrami. Mario took over the company in 1919 and renamed it Buccellati.
Mario Buccellati attained his fame and royal acceptance in 1949 when Pope Pius XII authorized Buccellati to design an iconic piece for Princess Margaret to represent the significance of the first British Royal visit to Vatican City in centuries.
Mario Buccellati passed away in 1965, leaving the secrets of manufacturing to younger generations. His business was split among four out of his five sons: Lorenzo, Federico, Luca, and Gianmaria.
Gianmaria Buccellati launched a new brand and started his independent business without his brothers. This solo endeavor was successful, but in 2011, he made an agreement with some of his relatives and joined back his family business, calling it Buccellati Holding Italia.

This exceptional Victorian sterling silver plate has a plain circular shaped form with a plain circular central well.
The well of this fine antique plate is plain and unembellished.
The shaped border is ornamented with a fine and impressive contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting hand holding birds' leg erased a` la quise (at the thigh) all above the motto 'Nescit vox missa reverti' - word once spoken can never be recalled. .
The border is further embellished with impressive applied scrolling leaf and floral motifs to each incurve.
