About the Item
A lovely addition to any table. this classic American pair of sterling silver candlesticks feature decorative qadrooned borders around the edges and etched glass shades. The silver fittings for the hurricanes unscrew so the candle bases can be used as candlesticks that measure 3.5 inches tall x 3.75 inches wide. The weighted bases are cement filled and reinforced with rod. "Gadrooning is a decorative, rope-like molding featuring a series of repeating, curved, and often alternating concave and convex shapes, resembling flutes or petals, used as an ornamental border in furniture (like Chippendale), silverwork, and architecture, originating from Roman antiquities and popular in Renaissance and 18th/19th-century designs."
