About the Item

A magnificent Antique Victorian Silver Claret Jug with a frosted glass body and mounted with an ornate Sterling Silver grape vine design. The Silver grape vine pattern wraps wound the body of the Wine Jug and extends to the foot and hinged lid. The Jug has a Letter D and a coronet (crown) intwined with the vines beneath the spout an has a monogram HB below a coronet engraved in the glass below that. The Jug also features an impressive coronet finial. The Handle of the Claret Jug is formed from the trunk of the grape vines. This Claret Jug is of notably large size. Made in London, England in 1843 by Mortimer Hunt. Approx. Height - 35.4cm Approx. Width incl Handle - 17.3cm This Wine Ewer has a Full English Hallmark on the Foot and is Part Marked on the Lid. This Victorian Wine Jug is in excellent condition with no damage. STOCK CODE - WIN01 VIC01
